Three-bedroom homes in Mission for a December stay

Short answer: a group of four to six can choose between five Mission three-bedroom places we manage, and our rates typically run USD 89–125 per night before taxes and fees, which sits under a $150 nightly target with room to spare. December is the month everyone else wants too, so the rate you see and the week you want both need confirming with us directly, but the inventory itself is real and it's bigger than most people expect for this part of the Rio Grande Valley.
The useful thing to know before you compare them: nearly everything we have in Mission is a three-bedroom, which means the choice isn't about size. It's about whether you want a pool and a gym on the property, or a backyard with a BBQ pit and a gate at the front of the neighborhood. Those are genuinely different trips.
The five to look at first
All five sleep six or more, all five have a full kitchen, a washer, and Wi-Fi fast enough to work on, and all five are in Mission.
- Renovated Stylish Condo - Pool & Jacuzzi - 3 bed — sleeps 6, two baths. Pool, jacuzzi, gym, BBQ pits with outdoor seating, and an elevator in the building, which matters more than people think when you're hauling a month of luggage.
- Renovated 3BR APT nice/cozy! — sleeps 6, two baths. Same resort setup (pool, jacuzzi, gym, BBQ areas) plus a dedicated workspace, so it's the one that works if someone in the group is still logging in.
- Penthouse with Pool & Jacuzzi — sleeps 6, two baths, with a balcony and an outdoor pool. Centrally located and pet friendly.
- Casa Renata - Huge Backyard for family Reunions — sleeps 8 across three bedrooms and three baths, in a gated community in Sharyland. Huge private backyard with a BBQ pit, gazebo, outdoor dining area, fireplace, and a playground with swings. King bed in the primary, a first-floor bedroom with its own full bath.
- Brand New Apt - Excellent for Big Families — sleeps 9, the largest capacity of the five, with a private backyard and BBQ pit in a gated subdivision.
If your group is four to six people and you want the simplest decision, the three condos all land in the same place: a pool you can use in December, a gym, grills outside, and shopping three minutes away. If you're six to eight and the point of the trip is eating together, Casa Renata has three bathrooms and an outdoor fireplace, and it's the one built for the long table.
Pool or backyard: the choice that actually changes the stay
South Texas in December is why people come. Outdoor space is usable, and that splits our Mission inventory cleanly down the middle.
The condos put the outdoor space in the complex: Renovated Stylish Condo and Vantage both open onto a shared pool, jacuzzi, gym, and BBQ pits with seating, and there's a kids' playground at both. You get more amenity than any single house could carry, and you share it.
Casa Renata flips that. The gazebo, the grill, the outdoor dining table, and the fireplace are yours alone, behind a gate, with Target and Walmart just outside the neighborhood. A group that intends to cook most nights and sit outside after dark should book this one. The second kind of group, the one that will swim in the afternoon and eat out, is better off in a condo.
What our usual nightly range means for a $150 budget
Our rates across the portfolio typically fall in the USD 89–125 band before taxes and fees. For a December stay that's the headline number working in your favour, but it's the headline number only: taxes, fees, and any minimum-stay rule for your dates are confirmed when you book with us, not guessed from a search results page.
The other half of the math is what you don't spend. Every one of these has a real kitchen, and the four built out for families, including Brand New Apt and Renovated Stylish Condo, come stocked with cooking basics, dishes, a coffee maker, and coffee. Six people eating breakfast at home for a week is the difference between a $150 night and a $150 night that behaves like a $90 one.
If you're here for the birds
Mission is the headquarters town for the World Birding Center, and that's at Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park on South Bentsen Palm Drive, off FM 2062. Entry is $5 per adult per day and kids twelve and under go free. Cars aren't allowed inside any more, which turns out to be the best thing about it: there are seven miles of trail and park road to walk or cycle, bike rentals on site, a hawk observation tower, and a tram if you'd rather ride. Serious birders go early, so a kitchen and a coffee maker in the unit matter more than the pool does.
The National Butterfly Center is on Butterfly Park Drive, open daily except Easter, ten dollars for adults and five for children five to twelve. Anzalduas Park, on Anzalduas Dam Road down by the river, is the picnicking and fishing option. All three are in Mission, which is the whole argument for staying here rather than in McAllen.
A long stay, and what makes one bearable
Winter Texan season isn't a weekend. If you're here for weeks, two things decide how it goes: laundry and a bedroom you can shut the door on.
Casa Renata is set up for long-term stays and has three bathrooms, a first-floor bedroom with its own full bath, and a crib and pack-n-play if there's a baby in the group. Vantage was built around the long-stay guest from the start, with the workspace and the gym downstairs. Renovated Stylish Condo has blackout curtains, which is a small thing until you've spent three weeks waking with the sun.
Pets: Penthouse with Pool & Jacuzzi, Vantage and Casa Renata allow them. Confirm the terms with us for your dates.
Eating in Mission
Diaz Diner on East 9th has fed local families and Winter Texans for years, and it's as busy with snowbirds as it is with people who live here. Taco Ole on North Conway has been open more than fifty years. Ana Liz Taqueria is the name that's travelled furthest out of the Valley lately. The Griffin Grill is a Sunday-morning habit for a lot of people here.
December in Mission carries a Christmas Posada, in keeping with the city's Mexican heritage. The Texas Citrus Fiesta and its Parade of Oranges, which a lot of visitors assume is a December thing, has in recent years landed in January, so check before you plan a trip around it.
What to settle before you book
Four questions, and the first two are the ones that decide everything:
- How many of you, and how many need their own bathroom? Six fits in any of the five. Eight needs Casa Renata, which has three baths, or Brand New Apt, which sleeps nine with two.
- Pool complex or private yard? This is the real fork, and it's covered above.
- Your exact December dates. Availability and minimum-stay terms for this season are confirmed by us, not inferred.
- Pets, parking, and anything else specific to your group. All five include free parking; Casa Renata also has street parking out front for an extra vehicle.
